On 27 April 1975, Maria del Mar Bonet performed at the Olympia in a memorable concert, a concert whose live album has profoundly inspired generations of Catalan artists and left a lasting impression on an entire nation. An album that had been banned by the censors of the regime of the time, under General Franco, who was still in power. Maria del Mar Bonet is one of the leading figures of La Nova Cançó,  an artistic and musical movement which, during the Franco regime, gave rise to the use of Catalan in popular music whilst denouncing injustice and the dictatorship.

Fifty years on, this legendary album has just been reissued, and Maria del Mar Bonet has given a series of concerts in Spain to mark the occasion; the tour will culminate in this new concert at the Olympia on 11 October 2026. Maria del Mar’s return to this very same Parisian stage, five decades later, with her songs—both those from the past and new ones—marks a reunion with her Parisian audience, not only the French but also Catalans and Spaniards, whether in exile or just passing through. A concert to celebrate a magnificent career, to rediscover the spirit of those years and pay tribute to those who lived through them – a tribute to the present, far removed from any nostalgia.
