May 23, 1995: in Paris, at a packed and ultra-energized Locomotive club, France discovered Angra live on stage – a small Brazilian band that had made a name for itself a few months earlier with its debut album, Angel Cry.
A year and a half later, in November 1996, during a seven-date French tour, the quintet from São Paulo celebrated with French audiences the success of Holy Land – an ambitious concept album that would forever leave its mark on Heavy Metal history through its power metal anthems infused with symphonic arrangements and tribal rhythms.
This remarkable journey continued in 1998 and 1999, years during which ANGRA performed all across France: at the Printemps de Bourges (alongside Dream Theater), at the Eurockéennes de Belfort (with Metallica), and headlined a sold-out show at the Zénith de Paris. During that memorable concert, the band was even joined on stage by Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden!
The year 2026 therefore marks the 30th anniversary of the release of Holy Land and of the famous concert held on November 15, 1996, in the unique setting of the Aquaboulevard de Paris.
To celebrate this milestone with French fans, ANGRA has decided to mark the occasion in style with a very special concert on September 23, 2026, at the legendary Olympia. The evening will be divided into two parts: the first dedicated to a full performance of Holy Land, followed by a second set highlighting other key moments from the band’s rich discography. The show will also pay tribute to the late Andre Matos, who passed away in June 2019. For the occasion, guitarist Kiko Loureiro – who spent ten years as a member of Megadeth – will make a special return appearance with ANGRA.
That evening, Rafael Bittencourt (guitar), Felipe Andreoli (bass), Bruno Valverde (drums), and Marcelo Barbosa (guitar) will also introduce their new singer to the French audience: Alirio Netto, notably known for his performances with Queen Extravaganza, the official tribute band to Queen created by Roger Taylor.
On September 23, in the nostalgic atmosphere of the Olympia, the “Holy Land 30th” concert will undoubtedly be a night of reunion and renewal – a long-awaited moment for both the musicians and their fans.
